Scott Talley

Scott Talley has been in private practice in South Carolina since 2002. During this time, he’s assisted clients with legal matters throughout the United States. His practice focuses on cases involving complex real estate law, contract or corporate matters, criminal defense, family court matters, and personal injury/workers compensation litigation.

In addition to his work on behalf of numerous corporate and individual clients, Scott has served as local counsel to national law firms on class action matters pending in the state of South Carolina. He’s tried cases in Circuit Court, Family Court and Magistrate Court, and has appeared on behalf of clients in federal courts in both South Carolina and Illinois. Scott has argued cases before both the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court.  Along with his trial practice, Scott has assisted clients with governmental affairs issues at both the local and state level in South Carolina and beyond.

Scott is a Certified Civil Mediator in the state of South Carolina and is frequently retained by parties or their attorneys to resolve disputes. A graduate of Wofford College, Scott was awarded the prestigious Presidential International Scholarship and spent much of 1998 traveling throughout 13 developing nations across the globe.

In 2000 while attending law school, Scott was elected to represent House District 34 in the South Carolina House of Representatives, a position he held through 2008. He served as chairman of the Election and General Laws Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee. In 2016, Scott was elected to the South Carolina Senate for District 12, located in Spartanburg and Greenville Counties. He serves on the Judiciary, Education, General, Agriculture/Natural Resources, and Fish, Game and Forestry Committees.

Scott received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2002. He is admitted to practice law in South Carolina and before the U.S. District Courts for the District of South Carolina, the Northern District of Illinois (Chicago) and the District of Colorado. Scott and his wife Kelly reside in Georgetown and have three sons, Hudson (Clemson University), Leyton (The Citadel) and Wells (Waccamaw High School). The family is ruled by three dogs, Pepper, Charlee and Marvin.
